Steal this technique from PwC to find the best content creators

Technology is hooking up the best people with the right projects in accountancy as well as content marketing

Do you sometimes find it hard to find the perfect content creator? You may need a specialist journalist or a writer who can spin 20 great blog posts out of one conference. Perhaps it’s a video producer good enough to bring out the human side in your CFO. Those people are out there, but how do you find them?

Perhaps you should take a leaf out of PwC’s book. The giant of the accountancy world recently launched Talent Exchange. Essentially it is a website that hooks up freelance accountants, consultants and other specialists with PwC projects that need their skills.

Of course there’s a careful vetting process. Only those with the right experience and understanding of PwC’s values are able to join the programme. Once signed up, you can look at the vacancies that exist for ‘independent talent’ and express an interest.

PwC describe Talent Exchange as:

A single, integrated platform that facilitates the project lifecycle from searching for open roles, to joining a project, to submitting hours and expenses, to networking.

It makes sense. There are fewer permanent in-house roles across almost every industry. More and more people work in an independent or freelance capacity, both out of choice and necessity. Why not let a software platform take the strain of matchmaking projects with people – or at least making the introductions?

Of course, PwC are preaching to the converted here at Progressive Content. Content Cloud, our content marketing platform, gives access to hundreds of carefully selected content creators. It also handles workflow and payments, making life easier for marketing teams as well as freelance talent.

PwC are keen to highlight the human aspect. SaaS platforms are great, but one also needs the human touch. They tell would-be candidates:

More than just staffing you on a project, we’re looking to establish a relationship where you will continue to be considered for roles that match your skills and experience.

The same approach lies behind Content Cloud. We know the content creators and are always happy to advise clients on who may best meet their needs.

Expect to see a proliferation of such professional matchmaking platforms that can save clients money while also giving access to the best people. Perhaps the next step will be a PwC tie-up with Uber when a glance at an app will allow you to see and select from accountants in the vicinity. Maybe one day…
